Star Trek TNG: Episode 65 - The Offspring

"The android Data creates a "child" of his own named Lal and tries to raise her, while Picard takes on StarFleet research to keep them from taking her away."

If "Yesterday's Enterprise" was brilliant, then this episode is beyond brilliant. The Offspring is wonderfully writen episode that was directed by Jonathan Frakes. Also, I was insanely attracted to Lal.

In addition to this, The Offspring was a popular 90's California punk band with such hits as Self Esteem and Come Out and Play.

The actress who played Lal was hot. She later went on to play the mom on Lizzie Maguire and she was still hot.

i always liked the offspring more than Green Day. They were both pretty popular until green day came out with the album about how George Bush was stupid and then they became super mega popular and offspring just got left behind.
That George Bush album was terrible though!!! the songs sucked on it.
The Offspring are still the better band, so screw you green day.

They wrote an album about how George Bush is stupid? I gave up on Greenday after their second album. I loved Dookie and it was one of the first albums I bought by myself, on my own, with my own money, but I remember being really bored and let down by the second album. I don't remember any of it though.

I still get a little surprised when I hear them on the radio or something. They're still around? Good for them, I guess.

What were we talking about again?

ya dookie was a good album. That album American Idiot was suppose to be about George Bush evidently. Its not a very good album though. I think people just liked it because it made fun of bush.
the Offspring song "pretty fly for a white guy" is better than any green day song

This episode pisses me off so bad. Fuckin' Starfleet. I do like it when Starfleet is shown to be kind of douchey, though. A future in which everybody always makes the right decisions all the time would be kind of boring.

Ah yes, finally some disdain for Starfleet! I agree fully.

I actually do remember her from Lizzie Maguire ... still hot.

American Idiot was basically a rock opera album. True, everyone liked it just because it was anti-Bush. Musically, it was Green Day meets The Beatles, which either you like or hate. I actually liked it. Although Bush bashing at the time was far from groundbreaking
