"A transporter accident merges Tuvok and Neelix into a new person."
This has the potential to be the dumbest Star Trek episode, but damn they played this one perfectly. Instead of making it goofy, they went the complete opposite and it made it deep and sad and dare I say meaningful. Tuvok and Neelix merge to make a totally new person named Tuvix. He is has the personality of both Neelix and Tuvok, but at the same time is uniquely himself. When the The Doctor discovers a "cure", it puts Janeway in a dilemma; should she basically kill Tuvix in order to restore her two crewmembers.

I really liked this episode when it originally aired...and i still like it!! I like anything about transporters doing something wacky. They should have had it be a girl and boy getting merged into being a tranny...that would be hot.
I guess that really could happen, right?? ...Assuming Star Trek was real.
Tuvix. As you said, on paper it's the dumbest thing ever, but even a die-hard Voyager hater like me admits it's brilliant. I think I even teared up a little at the end.
They seriously should've just kept Tuvix. Losing Tuvok and Neelix wouldn't be much of a loss.
It was such a good move making it a sad, serious episode. It made you forget what a dumb idea it was. Tuvix was horrifying to look at though.
