Star Trek TOS: Episode 65 - PLATO'S STEPCHILDREN

This episode is a bit corny at times, but I definetly dig it. Plato's Stepchildren is infamous for it's interracial kiss between Kirk and Uhura. And let me tell you, it's awkward and lame as hell. Go back and watch it, it's terrible. Again, they must have had the set from Who Mours For Adonis? lying around because they just totally rehash the plot of a society where Rome never fell. Sort of. These "aliens" had spent time in Ancient Greece before venturing off and landing on this planet. They have super strong telekenetic powers (but this is actually do to the planet itself). The Enterprise crew has been summoned to give medical aid to the leader. But, they also plan on killing Kirk and his crew ... for no reason.

One person on the planet does not have these powers and he has become the community slave. He's a dwarf named Alexander played by the great Michael Dunn. Dunn is awesome in this episode. There is a great scene in which he finally lets out his frustrations and smashes a piece of pottery. The shards clearly hit him in the face!
McCoy figures out how to give Kirk and Spock telekenetic powers. But first they are subjected to humiliation by being forced to make out with Uhura and god help me Nurse Chapel. Then Kirk is made to whip Uhura and Spock to attack Chapel with a hot poker. Kirk finally gains his new powers and fights back. So anyway, the interratial kiss caused little negative reaction. In fact the only negative letter came from a Southerner and read like this "I am totally opposed to the mixing of the races. However, any time a red-blooded American boy like Captain Kirk gets a beautiful dame in his arms that looks like Uhura, he ain't gonna fight it."
