Star Trek TNG: Episode 5 - The Last Outpost

Starfleet's first visual encounter with the Ferengi, Although it did also happen in the show Enterprise. Anyway ... they have stolen a piece of technology and the Enterprise track them down. Both ships are abruptly immobilized by the keeper on an ancient planet. He wants to test them to see if they are good or evil. Something like that. Anyway, it's a typical Star Trek plot.

Now to the Ferengi. I love them. They are so funny and just so damn sleazy. Awesome. Then I realized that they are supposed to be the mortal enemies in TNG (like the Klingons in TOS). They are just not threatening enough. Also, Picard comments that they are very similar to 17th Century American Sea Traders. Really? REALLY!?!?! American traders?? Really!?

ST TNG: 5 down 173 to go

It's funny how the Ferengi started out as rivals to Starfleet and then very quickly became almost pure comic relief. I like them, too, by the way.

The Ferengi. Pffft.

They actually thought they would be *the* major threat of the Next Generation. Of course, once the aired the episode everybody agreed they were annoying, and not in a good way. Quark is great. This episode... unwatchable.

So I google "ferengi" to see if some has drawn erotic fan art of a ferengi having gay sex with sonic the hedgehog and the 4th most googled search for ferengi is "ferengi Jews"
And when I google "ferengi are" the most searched term "ferengi are space jews"
So after a racist episode ...star trek comes out with an anti semetic alien race?
Nice going star trek

I like the ferengi too...though as a Klingon replacement?? Psshaw

Yes indeed they are pure comic relief. And yes indeed this episode is unwatchable. And yes indeed ... why the hell are you looking up gay Ferengi stuff?

Star Trek needed to get these racist stuff out of the way in Season One so they can move on to more politically correct plots.
